Protecting the Range: Idaho’s Homegrown Firefighters

When Idaho created Rangeland Fire Protection Associations in 2012, it removed a major barrier in wildfire response. By allowing federal agencies like the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to train and equip local farmers and ranchers, the state built a powerful partnership for initial attack and coordinated wildfire response across southern Idaho.
