Gem County FB members have lunch with their lawmakers

BOISE--A dozen Gem County Farm Bureau members met with their lawmakers for lunch today at Boise Farm Bureau offices.

"We hold a lunch meeting every year with our District 8 lawmakers," said Gem County Farm Bureau President Clint Rohrbacher. Today we had Rep. Dorothy Moon, Rep. Terry Gestrin, and Senator Steven Thayn from our District for lunch.

The Gem County farm and ranch members listened to the lawmakers over pizza, Lawmakers, in turn, a listened to news from the District and heard concerns over the weighty issues of the day.

"I think almost all of our farmers are interested in what's going on with this hemp bill," said Rohrbacher.  "There's also a lot of interest in the School Bond funding bill in our county, we like to stay on top of the issues that directly impact us."

The annual event is a valuable member benefit according to President Rohrbacher, and a way of keeping grass-root politics alive.

"It's very important because when you call them with a concern they have a face in mind and know who they're talking to. I think all the County Farm Bureaus should do it," said Rohrbacher.
