Idaho ranks second nationally in production of sugarbeets. Idaho growers plant approximately 175,000 acres of sugarbeets each year. The crop is refined at plants located in Paul, Twin Falls and Nampa. The plants are owned by a grower cooperative called Snake River Sugar Company which owns Amalgamated Sugar. One of the company's brands is White Satin Sugar.
In 2011 Idaho growers planted 176,000 acres of sugarbeets. The average yield was 34.4 tons per acre.
